Muktinath - The end point of salvation

Introduction |
Muktichhetra (2700 to 3800 m from the sea level) is very important holy place for the Hindu pilgrims. According to Hindu religion it is assumed that unless Muktichhetra visited, one cannot get salvation though visited to other many Hindu holy places. It is said that the region has also relation with Tantrik Sidha Guru Rinpoche (Padma Sambhav). That is why, not only Hindu but also Buddhist pilgrims believe this region as a great Holy place.
According to fact of tale it is found that also the Shivaji has been existent as Shivalinga though the Shaligram stone is form of Vishnu, that is why this area is known as the union place of Shree Vishnu and Shiva. Also the God Vishnu and Shiva have existed in Shalligram. So it has great religious importance now a days. |

Muktichhetra is completely filled by cultural and natural beauty. The Muktinath temple which is naturally and culturally very rich in the most important center of this area.

Suitable time to visit:
According to Hindus festivals in Ram Nawami, Chaitraastami, Dashara, Rishi Tarpani, Bada Dashain are the suitable time to visit this area. It is believe that much more salvation is obtained because of the pilgrimage during this periods.
Preparation to Visit:
This region is not only the transhimalayan but also in the high and cold place of Mustang District. So the visitors are advise to take a down jacket, a sweater, a woolen socks, pants, sleeping bags as well as some medicine for high altitude sickness with them during the trek or visit.

Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and then walk towards north east from Jomsom or 2 hours drive from Jomsom. |

Day 1
- Depart Kathmandu at 7 am in a tourist coach or fly to Pokhara.
- If time permit half day sightseeing at Pokhara or evening relax at Fewa lake & boating.
- Overnight at Pokhara.
Day 2
- Early morning fly Jomsom.
- Jomsom is also called as “Mini Switzerland”, so one can visit surrounding areas – museum, Thini, Dhumpa lake, Dhumpa Ghumpa, Agriculture firm, Marpha (Apple farming) as a full day sightseeing.
- Overnight at Jomsom.
Day 3
- Early morning drive to Muktinath.
- Bath, worship & meditation at Muktinath temple as own wish.
- See the attractions of the area.
Drive or walk back to Jomsom.
- Overnight at Jomsom.
Day 4
- Early morning fly back to Pokhara and Kathmandu or drive to Pokhara, stay at hotel.
